Horizontal Directional Drilling is the most economical method for the trenchless new installation of wastewater pipes, especially when rehabilitation of the old pipe is no longer possible or uneconomical. It is the ideal solution when the new route runs under surfaces such as gardens, asphalted paths, or buildings that should remain untouched.Using a precisely controlled drill head, we create an underground channel that ensures the necessary gradient for the new wastewater pipe. Horizontal drilling is the ideal solution for two main scenarios. First, when your old sewage pipe is so severely damaged that trenchless renovation (such as with an inline liner) is no longer technically possible or uneconomical. Secondly, it is used when a completely new sewer connection must be created, e.g. for a new building, and the pipeline must cross surfaces such as gardens, driveways or existing buildings.
The most important requirement is sufficient space in the ground. Since we work precisely and safely, legal safety distances from other existing lines, such as electricity or gas pipes, must be maintained. Our experts therefore always check the exact circumstances first as part of an on-site analysis. As soon as the new, separate line is routed horizontally, the old, defective line is no longer required. As part of our comprehensive service, we ensure that the old line is professionally shut down. As a rule, it is cleaned, permanently closed at both ends and remains securely in the ground. This avoids any risk of the soil collapsing or settling down later.
The inline process repairs and renews the existing Management from within. It is a “pipe-in-pipe” method. The horizontal hole, on the other hand, does not use the old line at all. Instead, a completely new, independent underground pipeline will be created. This is always the necessary solution when the old route is unsuitable or the damage is too great for interior renovation.
